Congratulations to Father Joe Carroll, recipient of 2013 Citizen Service Before Self Honor!

This outstanding brief video gives a glimpse of the community we work in at St Vincent de Paul Village:
We think this great commercial for Father Joe's Villages really captures the spirit of this great organization that our residents and faculty are privileged to partner with! Check it out here.
Happy New Year! Our January newsletter is packed with some great combined resident photos, a reflection from our co-chief Kristy Lamb on "new beginnings," and an awesome Q&A with UCSD Combined alumna Dr. Julie Le (2008)! We invite you to check it out here.
Two members of our "combined family" with particular interests in attachment and dynamic psychotherapy have recently published two papers on the role of oxytocin and attachment in the psychotherapeutic relationship. Current combined chief resident Dr. Kristy Lamb has been working with her mentor, UCSD Combined program alum Dr. Kai MacDonald, for the past 3 years. Dr. MacDonald has an active psychotherapy practice in San Diego and remains a volunteer faculty member in the UCSD Department of Psychiatry, as well as conducting research on the role of attachment in the psychotherapeutic relationship.
Drs. Lamb and MacDonald recently published their work in the Ad hoc Bulletin of Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy:
MacDonald K, Lamb K. Oxytocin, the Brain's Bassoon: Sex, Ties, and Videotapes. Ad hoc Bulletin of Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. 2012 Oct: 16(2): 7-26.
MacDonald K, Lamb K. The Brain's Bassoon: A review of oxytocin and the dance of attachment. Ad hoc Bulletin of Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. 2012 Apr: 16(1): 5-27.
