While many people often see the homeless as a nomadic population (and many are), the combined residents are able to develop long lasting treatment relationships with their patients. Often, while patients struggle to maintain consistency in their lives, they will continue to follow up with their doctors. We believe this continuity also has much to do with the trusting patient-physician relationship that is forged between our residents and the patients we see. Earning the trust of those who may not trust easily can be challenging, but incredibly rewarding and combined residents maintain levels of continuity hardly matched by their peers in the traditional categorical programs.
