While it is true that combined doctors must often blaze a professional trail in order to practice in a truly integrated way, our graduates have been very successful at starting practices de novo and integrating family medicine and psychiatry in their various clinical settings. During training, we emphasize the kind of leadership skills that will give our graduates the confidence to forge ahead and create practice niches for themselves in the current structure of medical practice.
