“Addiction Medicine is the perfect blend of humanism, psychiatry, and medical expertise. I spend half of my time in the inpatient setting handling addiction medicine admissions, providing both psychiatric and medical care. The rest of my time is spent in an outpatient setting with MDs, PhDs, LCSWs, and RNs; we use a team approach in order to help our patients achieve and maintain sobriety. We perform detoxes, therapy, motivational interviewing, psychiatric management, and family interventions. I also follow my patients in various rehabilitation settings. As a specialist, I consult and lecture on a variety of psychiatric and medical issues, and I have the opportunity to work with all medical disciplines.”
