Nicole Esposito, M.D.

Dr. Nicole Esposito earned her undergraduate degree from Mercyhurst college and her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo.  After graduating from the combined program, she established a combined out-patient clinic in an underserved clinic in the north of San Diego county.  During her residency, she was one of a handful of residents selected to take part in a leadership training sponsored by the California Academy of Family Physicians aimed at teaching tomorrow's leaders the skills to make a difference in the future of medicine (we were honored to send two of our residents).

"I grew up in Chagrin Falls , Ohio , not exactly a hotbed for social justice matters. During my undergraduate studies in Pennsylvania , I was fortunate to have been exposed to a wide variety of ideas and points-of-view, not only in the classroom but also among my peers. I had a long-standing interest in psychiatry, and this expanded during undergrad to many fields of medicine. Especially interesting to me was the interaction of these fields with my concern for social justice. In UCSD's Combined Psychiatry & Family Medicine Residency Program, I found a perfect combination: I wanted a strong medical education and training, while still stimulating my passion for social justice. In the last four years, I've only become more resolute in the idea that medical education and public service are not mutually exclusive, but in fact are complementary in the development of well-trained physicians."
