Dr. J. "Randy" Swartz
Dr. J. "Randy" Swartz earned his undergraduate degree in psychobiology from Rice University in Houston and completed his medical training at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School. He spent 10 years at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he completed a residency in psychiatry, worked as a psychiatry attending on acute inpatient services, and then completed a second residency in family medicine. Dr. Swartz is dually board certified in psychiatry and family medicine with a CAQ in geriatric medicine. He is particularly interested in the interface between geriatric psychiatry and general medical care for the elderly. He is active in nursing home care, as well as both inpatient and outpatient care, in the South Bay area of San Diego. Dr. Swartz is a full-time faculty member at the Scripps Chula Vista Family Medicine Residency Program, and we are privileged to have him teaching the combined residents at the St. Vincent de Paul Family Health Clinic. He is also the 2012 President of the San Diego Academy of Family Physicians.
